Occupational Health and Safety Visit from Balıkesir University to All Units
Field inspections and board meetings were successfully conducted by the Balıkesir University Occupational Health and Safety Coordinatorship at all faculties and vocational schools affiliated with our university.
This comprehensive study, which was not limited to units located on our university's central campus, was completed by reaching even the most remote units off-campus. During the visits, on-site inspections were conducted at each unit, while occupational health and safety practices, the physical conditions of work environments, and existing risks were meticulously evaluated.
These visits were conducted following risk assessment studies previously carried out in all units. In this context, the effectiveness of measures taken against risks identified in previous assessments was observed on site. Additionally, any new hazards or areas for improvement that may have emerged over time were carefully examined and recorded.
The Occupational Health and Safety Committee meetings held at each school were conducted under the chairmanship of the relevant Faculty Dean or Vocational School Director, with the participation of committee members. During these meetings, the current operations were reviewed, issues encountered were discussed, and improvement proposals were considered. During this process, a solution-oriented approach was adopted with the contributions of academic and administrative staff.
During field inspections, necessary information and guidance were provided based on observations made in buildings, offices, laboratories, workshops, and common areas. Various recommendations were developed to strengthen practices aimed at enhancing the security of work areas.
With this exemplary work, Balıkesir University Occupational Health and Safety Coordinatorship demonstrates that it is not only fulfilling its legal responsibilities but also progressing steadfastly towards building a corporate safety culture.
Along with these efforts, the Occupational Health and Safety Coordinatorship aims to establish a sustainable safety culture across our University and provide a healthier working and learning environment for all stakeholders. Our Coordinatorship plans to continue increasing similar activities in the coming periods.
"A safe university environment is a shared responsibility of all of us."
